Virginia Lake (elevation 105
feet) is located on the mainland, east of Wrangell. The flight
departs the Wrangell Airport for a day of fishing and relaxing
in the wilderness -- yet just 10 minutes from civilization.
There is a US Forest Service cabin located on the east end
of the lake that can be reserved. Fish for cutthroat from
May to September. You may want to hike the one mile down to
Mill Creek, the saltwater access (Eastern Passage) to Virginia
Lake. Some remnants of old mining activity can still be seen
near the head of the Mill Creek Trail.
